Your Health and Horses

As you may already know your horse works with the energy you as a rider exudes.  Therefore your health is extremely important for peak performance.  Next time you are preparing for an event or just a casual ride with your horse, make a checklist; are you rested, hydrated, fueled up, and relaxed?  These are all important aspects of preparing your horse, now how about you?  If you lack any of these and are not at your best your horse will portray your weakness.  Make sure to get a good nights rest. Fuel yourself up with plenty of "power" food as your sustained energy is imperative for optimal performance.

It is very important to be relaxed.  A simple stretching routine will help your muscles prepare for the physical demands of competition.  Is is also good practice to designate a few moments of silence with your horse prior to an event to center yourself and to promote mental clarity.

Most importantly is to make sure you are hydrated.  Our body is 75% water so you can imagine the importance of hydration.  for optimal muscle, nerve, and structural function.

Remember these tips and I believe it will help you and your horse to achieve a great performance.
